Here We Are

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us? ” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

He said, “Go and tell this people: “‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’ Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.” Isaiah 6:8-10

Hello and welcome to the Colorado School of Mines chapter of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship! We are excited to begin a  new adventure that is a new school year, and hope you are too, whether you are a new student interested in IV or a returning member ready for more shenanigans!

First off, we are a Christian organization on campus that focuses on fellowship through groups. We hold Large Group every Tuesday evening, consisting of a time of worship, the weekly talk, and a time of fellowship sometimes including games, but always a good time with peeps who follow Jesus. Small Groups are held all over Golden at different times and are for closer fellowship and a study of a Scripture passage. We have Small Groups to reach out to freshman and others directed at upperclassmen, so there is a group for you! Check out the Bible Studies page for locations and times (which will soon be updated). InterVarsity also is a part of a bunch of other fun events: check out our events page, the sidebar or our Facebook group!

Burning Embers is the place where all Large Group talks will be recapped and contemplated. During the course of a week, they are a great reminder and point of focus (because I know we might forget the subject of the talks with schoolwork being crammed into our heads). It's also a place to go deeper into the topic with discussion, questions, testimonies, or just plain ole comments. I encourage everyone to get involved with the discussion this year!

This year we feel we are called to amazing growth of our chapter. Not just growing numbers, but a community that runs after God to do awesome things on this campus and our city. We feel we are also called to evangelism: not just the events that will be held, but a continuous praying and reaching out to our friends at Mines who don't have God in their lives. Our mission is that every individual on this campus has a chance to know who Jesus is, and that is something that we want to be a reality more than a mission. He needs planters and harvesters for His plan on the Mines campus, and He is calling to see if we are willing to be sent.

Do you remember where you were a year from today? Don't you think it's amazing where you are at now? God has amazing things planned for you this year individually and us as a fellowship. Who knows where we'll be at in another year! Are you willing to be sent? It's gonna be crazy! I hope you'll join us for the ride.
