Practice in Action

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.

~ Mark 16 : 15 - 20

So here it is, the semester is ending very very soon, and you're probably overloaded with things to do that talking to people gets put on the back burner. And even more, talking to people about God gets easier to make excuses for. I'm an awesome procrastinator. But it's awful: I say that I'll talk to people tomorrow. Or next week. I think that in five, ten, twenty years I'll live a radical life for Christ. The worst form of procrastination.

But especially in this stressful time, we need to know where our priorities are. Focus on God. And practice for the people we're going to be one day.

College is the time we do grow into the adults we're going to become. Taking challenges that Jesus calls you to, rather than focusing academic challenges, is the way we practice to have vibrant lives with Jesus.

Let's not become boring people with quiet lives! Let's practice. Let's do it.
